Two more COVID deaths in Knox County Wednesday; 15 in two weeks

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced two more deaths of residents in Knox County who tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday.

The deaths are two individuals in their 80’s, a male and a female.

These deaths bring Knox County’s total to 21 deaths, 16 of those coming in the last two weeks as the county, region and state are experiencing another surge in cases.

Knox County was one of several that were placed in a “warning” level as of Friday, because of reaching points in certain metrics meant to track the virus’ spread.

For the week of Oct. 11 through Oct. 17, Knox had a 377 positive for 100,000 people and a positivity rate of 11.9 percent, and nearly a quarter of cases were linked to outbreaks.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total tests from October 21 – October 27 is 6.7%.
