Knox County added two more deaths of people who tested positive for COVID-19 to its total on Thursday. There was also an increase of 69 new confirmed cases, after averaging 26 daily cases over the previous 9 days.

The deaths were a  female in her 90s and a female over 100 years old according to the Knox County Health Department. So far this week there have been four deaths in the county.

Knox is also on pace to have a new record number of cases in a week this week.

Knox County Public Health Administrator Michele Gabriele says “two more families are suffering the ultimate loss due to COVID-19, and this sadly underscores how severe the virus can be.” Gabriele adds, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends as they cope with their loss.”

The rolling positivity rate for Knox County has remained flat at over 12 percent as of Monday. That’s where it was 10 days ago.

While we don’t know the number of tests performed in the past few days, which is a component of the positivity rate, there were additions of 32 cases Tuesday, 34 cases Wednesday, and 69 cases Thursday.
