With Knox County and the City of Galesburg feeling a strong surge in COVID cases, Iron Spike Brewing Company has decided to suspend service until indoor seating can be offered.
The Simmons Street establishment said in a Facebook post on Tuesday that restaurants, bars, and breweries have been asked to sacrifice more than others to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.
They say they feel those decisions are necessary so that they can continue to serve Galesburg and the surrounding communities, despite them being hard, and to keep staff and the public safe.
Additionally, the post mentions that the business strongly disagrees with Mayor John Pritchard’s stance on the city not enforcing the public health guidelines.
They say that by taking that stance that Pritchard, quote, “did a great disservice to Galesburg and the surrounding communities.”
There is no timetable for when the business would resume operations.
