City of Galesburg and Hy-Vee pushing to stuff bus with a food drive

The City of Galesburg Transit and Hy-Vee are continuing their food drive through the weekend just ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Going on Friday-Monday, November 20-24, non-perishable food items, including peanut butter, canned tuna and chicken, pasta, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce, boxed meals as well as canned vegetables.

The city is making a final push to staff the bus and to do so they’re teaming up with both Hy-Vee locations in Galesburg.

“If you haven’t already donated, it’s not too late to support our food drive,” said Pamelyn Usher-Miller, Transit Manager. “We have been very pleased by all of the community support. The Strength Collective joined in our efforts by encouraging their gym members to donate, and now HyVee has also collaborated on the food drive to help give back to the community. We are very lucky and thankful for this outpouring of community support.”

To donate to help stuff the bus, you can donate items at these locations on these dates:

  • Friday, November 20, 2020: Hy-Vee located at 1975 National Blvd from 8 am – 2 pm
  • Saturday, November 21, 2020: Hy-Vee located at 2030 E Main Street from 8 am – 2 pm
  • Monday, November 23, 2020: Hy-Vee located at 1975 National Blvd from 8 am – 2 pm
  • Tuesday, November 24, 2020: Galesburg Transit Facility located at 1025 Monmouth Blvd from 8 am – 2 pm

Another way to donate is with a monetary donation to a local food pantry such as the Salvation Army at centralusa.salvationarmy.org/Galesburg or the FISH Food pantry at fishofgalesburg.org.
