George and Mary Burgland started a holiday tradition on North Prairie Street in the late 1970s that will now become a tradition on many Galesburg streets and parks. The Red Bow Initiative will hang up red holiday bows from the ornamental street lights as well as some bridges and in parks. The Burglands have teamed up with Galesburg on Track and the Sunrise Rotary Club. George & Mary and Tom Simkins joined Tom Meredith and Tyler Gumm on “Galesburg’s Morning News” to talk about the project.
