A now-annual event returns this weekend that is already designed to be socially-distanced in a drive-thru format. The Galesburg Gift of Lights returns to Lincoln Park starting tonight. The drive-thru holiday light event features Christmas light displays from local organizations, businesses, and community members. The volunteer-run event will also feature a chance for attendees to vote for their favorite display and drop-off letters for Santa – with a special appearance by St. Nick as well. “Come enjoy the lights; come enjoy the music that’s even put through (attendees) own personal car,” said organizer Mona Magness. “So in the safety of everyone’s car they can be safe and enjoy some holiday and enjoy some cheer. That’s what we want to bring.” Each year, the Gift of Lights aims to benefit a local entity or non-profit. This year, Out of the Darkness will be the beneficiary. The cost is $5 per car or $10 per bus or shuttle. The Gift of Lights will be held every Friday and Saturday through December 19th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
