On Tuesday, December 1st, Galesburg Police were notified that a couple of the City-owned decorative holiday wreaths that were displayed in Full Viewpoint Park had been stolen. Also, earlier this week, GPD received several calls from downtown businesses that had been vandalized. Several businesses were vandalized with orange spray paint – some of which had expletives painted on them. Police received calls from Coney Island, Browns Business College Building, Corner Connection, Pepmeyer & Pepmeyer, and Monkey Business Bar. After speaking with owners and employees at each business, the investigation lead police to Mary Allen West, where officers were shown security footage of a subject entering the building carrying one of the wreaths. On Wednesday, GPD caught up with the subject: 66-year old Stanley Mabry of Galesburg. Mabry had been kicked out of each business at some point in the past few weeks and months – mainly for making female patrons and employees feel uncomfortable. He was placed under arrest for Theft and for Felony Criminal Damage to Property.
