Chicago man charged with 12 offenses after being arrested in Galesburg.

On Saturday, December 12th around 3:00 in the morning, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Iowa Avenue for a 911 hang-up. Upon arrival, GPD discovered a running vehicle in the roadway with the driver slumped over asleep. The vehicle was registered to a Monmouth resident. Police woke the driver: 23-year old Corey Jamison of Chicago. Jamison was disoriented and panicked. A handgun was in plain view on the passenger seat, and an open bottle of alcohol in the center console. Officers secured the loaded .45 caliber handgun, and Jamison was pulled from the vehicle and placed into handcuffs. A search of Jamison turned up a baggie of suspected methamphetamine, two bags of cannabis, 14 amphetamine pills, and numerous additional baggies. Dispatch advised Jamison had valid warrants in Fulton and LaSalle Counties. According to police reports, Jamison was arrested and transported to the Public Safety Building where he denied ownership of everything on his person and in the car. Jamison told officers he’s from Chicago but frequents the 400 block of Iowa Avenue for parties. He then failed a field sobriety test. Jamison was charged with 12 total offenses: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Violation of the FOID Card Act, Possession of Methamphetamine over 15 grams, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Armed Violence, Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, a Failure to Appear Warrant from Fulton County and a Failure to Appear Warrant from LaSalle County.
