Galesburg Police were alerted to what they thought could be a bomb Thursday morning in a residential neighborhood roadway. Further investigation revealed it to be a failed attempt at a homemade firework.
GPD called in the Peoria Bomb Squad to safely remove the device and they further investigated.
A release from the City of Galesburg says when police responded to the area at 7:45 a.m. they found the device which was in the form of a small cylinder.
Police say there is no danger to the public.
