Knox County still remains at an orange warning level for COVID-19 with data released Friday by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Beds in Intensive Care Units are still at an alarmingly low level of 15.4 percent, barely below last week. IDPH considers anything under 20 percent to be at a warning level. ICU bed availability has been dropping continually for about two months.

The percentage of emergency room visits involving COVID has dropped for the third straight week in a row; now just under 10 percent of patients.

There were 627 positives per 100,000 people in Knox County which is virtually even with last week.

There were fewer deaths in this week, recording 9 following a week in which there were 14. Still, in the past month, there have been 48 deaths of Knox residents with COVID.
