Monday, December 21st around 2:00 am, Galesburg Police responded to a burglary alarm from the West K Mart on West Main Street. GPD arrived on the scene and made contact with the store’s owner. Officers discovered the west side window had been tampered with – the window was already broken by a previous burglary attempt and was boarded up. According to police reports, one of the exterior boards had been pried off, with the interior board still intact. City security cameras in the area captured two subjects walking up to the west side of the building – then running away about 60 seconds later. Officers searched the area and discovered a crowbar stuck into the ground on the north side of the property. On December 2nd, the front door of the West K Mart was shattered and three bottles of alcohol were taken. Just a few weeks before that, the west side window was broken and a pair of hookah pipes were taken from the business. The investigation is ongoing.
