Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Linneus Avenue in Galesburg for a domestic battery call. Linneus Avenue is a dead-end street off of East North Street. Upon arrival, GPD was met at the door of the residence by the female victim who had a bloody nose and told police the male subject had left, and she wanted the police to leave as well. She denied medical treatment and refused to speak further to the police. Officers detected a strong odor of cannabis coming from the home. Before leaving the scene, GPD was alerted to a Ford sedan parked in front of the residence. In plain view on the front passenger seat of the vehicle were several gallon-sized bags full of suspected cannabis. The bags were stacked on top of each other with numerous garbage bags also filled with bags of cannabis. Police made contact with one of the vehicle’s registered owners who said she didn’t have keys to the car and “wanted nothing to do with it.” GPD had the vehicle towed where a search warrant for the car will be issued. The male subject in the domestic battery call could now be facing Manufacturing / Delivery of Cannabis charges.
