Rhonda J. DeWeese, 55, died December 23, 2020, in her apartment on Pearl St. in Galesburg. Rhonda lived most of her life in Galesburg, except for three years in Peoria.

Rhonda was born July 24, 1965, in Bloomington. Rhonda’s birth mother was Sharon Ridgeway. She was adopted when she was eight weeks old by Robert Eugene and Betty (Smith) DeWeese.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Moore of Galesburg; her birth mother, Sharon Ridgeway of Bloomington; a brother, Wesley (Lori) DeWeese of Dacula, Georgia; nephews, Jared and Ryan DeWeese; several cousins, including Laura Lester and Lisa Harvey, who she was close to; many friends who were loving and loyal; and her beloved cat, Spirit. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents, Wesley and Ruth Smith and Verner and Goldie DeWeese.

Rhonda graduated from Galesburg High School in 1983. She also attended Bradley University. She worked in the cafeteria at Knox College for many years.

Rhonda was a loving, caring person. She had a singing voice just like Patsy Cline and was marvelous at telling funny stories. Rhonda was also a fabulous cook, knowing just what seasoning to use in her dishes. She loved animals.

Cremation will be accorded. Private family services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
