Rene Olivas, 61, of Galesburg, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at home.
He was born July 8, 1959, in Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Odorico Olivas Lopez and Maria Bonifacia Olivas Corral. He was married to Tracie White and had two children, Susana Olivas and Rene Olivas.
He is survived by his children, Susana Olivas, Rene Olivas, Christopher Crawford, and Kurtis Crawford; three grandchildren, Diego, Adriana, and Omar Olivas; six brothers, Hector (Elisa) Olivas, Heber (Aurora) Olivas, Oscar Olivas, Donato (Juanita) Olivas, Hugo Olivas, and Valente (Amanda) Olivas; three sisters, Olga (Jorge) Olivas de Aguirre, Bertha Olivas, and Alma Olivas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fernando Olivas and Noel Olivas.
Rene worked for the Maytag Corporation for 19 years. He was of the Catholic faith. Rene enjoyed fishing and ranching. Rene was a “jack of all trades” who could build or fix just about anything. He will be remembered for being a good father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.
Cremation will be accorded. No visitation or service is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Susana Olivas.
