One woman is dead and another has been arrested for her death as a result of Monday’s shooting on West First Street.
According to Galesburg Police, 26-year-old Rachel Likes was found in the driver seat of her vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
She was treated at the scene and later transported to Cottage’s Emergency Room. Unfortunately, she was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.
As a result of the investigation conducted by GPD, with assistance from the Illinois State Police, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI TOC West Task Force, and the Knoxville Police Department, a suspect was identified, located, and taken into custody.
26-year-old Maquesha S. Ramey was arrested for murder and is currently being held in the Knox County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
