Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be celebrated nationally on Monday and there will be local events as well. Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church is hosting the “MLK Day of Service” outside the church. Reverend James Hailey III, Semenya McCord, from Allen Chapel A.M.E. and Carl Sandburg College vice president of the Black Student Association Maliyah Martin joined Tom Meredith and Tyler Gumm on “Galesburg’s Morning News” to talk about the event, Dr. King and the history of the church locally.
