17th District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos joined MSNBC Live on Sunday, January 17th ahead of this week’s Biden-Harris Inauguration. Bustos was asked about Illinois National Guard units being deployed to the Illinois State Capitol and U.S. Capitol this week. She said we’ve seen people go “way beyond protesting.” Bustos was on the House floor during the attack on the Capitol on January 6th. The Democrat was also born and raised in Springfield, Illinois. “When I was flying home from Washington D.C. back to Illinois, we had a mini Trump rally on the flight that I was on 30,000 plus feet up in the air,” Bustos said. “That was like something I had never seen in my life. So this is really beyond protests.” About 250 National Guard members have been activated to boost security in downtown Springfield in response to warnings from the FBI about possible armed protests. Inauguration Day is Wednesday, January 20th.
