Traffic stop leads to the arrest of a marijuana delivery driver

Sunday, January 17th just before 7:00 pm, Galesburg Police while on patrol near Losey and Bateman Streets, noticed a vehicle without a registration light and initiated a traffic stop. According to police reports, officers made contact with the driver: 29-year old Andrew VanWinkle of Henderson. It was discovered that VanWinkle had a suspended driver’s license and was placed under arrest. While conducting an inventory of the vehicle, officers discovered numerous medicine bottles containing cannabis and cannabis gummies. Several of the containers were inside paper bags labeled with addresses. VanWinkle told police for every cannabis delivery he makes to each address, he receives $40. A total of 95 grams of raw cannabis and THC gummies were located. VanWinkle was charged with Driving on a Suspended License, the Delivery/Manufacturing of Cannabis, Illegal Transportation of Cannabis, and received a warning for no registration light.
