The Knox County efforts to get residents 65 and older vaccinated is off to a fast start. In fact, the Knox County Unified Command’s clinic at the Knox County Farm Bureau, and Cottage Hospital’s clinic have exhausted their supplies of the vaccine for the day on Thursday.

Eileen Inness, spokeswoman with Cottage says that on Thursday just over 1,000 people were vaccinated Thursday, either at clinics put on by Cottage and the Unified Command, or at OSF St. Mary.

Inness says that people were given a number and told to wait in their car, although if the wait was going to be long, the person could do home and come back at a later time.

Residents 65 and older can still come to the Unified Command clinic Friday when the supply will be replenished.

The vaccination is free and will be available on a first-come first serve basis tomorrow.

The supplies of vaccines are determined by the State of Illinois’ distribution plan. As additional supplies of vaccine arrive, the Knox County Health Department will provide additional details about the County’s local vaccination plan.
