Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball Vs. Knoxville Blue Bullets

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls basketball team had another dominating victory Saturday, as they defeated the Knoxville Blue Bullets 64-22 at the GHS Fieldhouse, improving to 3-0 on the season.

The Streaks led 20-4 at the end of the first quarter, and outscored the Blue Bullets 20-2 in the second, for a 40-6 lead at halftime.  Knoxville played much better in the second half, but the Streaks outscored them 21-11 in the third quarter.  Knoxville outscored Galesburg 5-3 in the final quarter, but it was a continuous clock game by then, with the Streaks up by more than 40.

Riley Jenkins led the way for the Streaks with 17 points, six baskets including a three-pointer, and was four for four from the free throw line.  Abby Davidson had 11 points, including nine in the first half, and was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game.  The starters only played about two minutes into the second half.  Lauren Livingston scored nine points for the Streaks, and a host of other players with five points in the ballgame.

Galesburg had just 14 turnovers in the game, four three-pointers, and 14 for 19 from the free throw line.

The Blue Bullets were led by Kynlee Stearns with seven points, including a three-pointer.  Alexa Tuthill and Kaci Luptak each had four points.

The Streaks next play Tuesday night at Sterling.  That game will are on 92.7 FM The Laser The rest of the season, GHS Boys and Girls will play at the same dates and times.  All GHS boys games will air on WGIL, while all GHS Girls games from here on out will be on The Laser.
