Knox County Fair announces 2021 fair entertainment lineup

While the Coronavirus pandemic wiping out almost all of the community events scheduled for last year, the oldest county fair in Illinois is hoping to return to normalcy this summer.

The Knox County Fair announced Friday that Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, and Collin Raye are coming to the fairgrounds in Knoxville on Thursday, July 8, as part of the Roots & Boots tour.

The three voices helped define 90’s country music and have combined to amass 40 Top 10 radio hits and sold more than 25 million albums.

Darcy Thorp with the Knox County Fair Board says that they believe that social distancing can be achieved in the pit.

“It’s scary because we’ll all still be probably thinking about this COVID thing. But, it’s such a big open area out there. We think we can really do it safely.”

Gates are scheduled to open at 6:00 pm with the concert starting at 7:00.

Ty Landon with the fair board tells WGIL that the opening act is a relatively local act.

“The opening act this year is a gentleman from Clinton, Illinois. He’s currently living in Clarksville, Kentucky. He travels to Nashville and works in the studio there. His name is Natu Visinia. He goes by the Natu Band.”

Visinia is also a professional boxer and in music has supported headliners the Eli Young Band, Toby Keith, Cole Swindell, and Maddie and Tae.

Grandstand tickets and track tickets are on sale at the Knox County Fair’s website.
