Late morning on Sunday, February 7th, Galesburg Police Officers met with a 19-year old Galesburg woman at the Public Safety Building, along with her father, who claimed that while leaving Moon Towers on Academy Street, around 9:00 am,  she was approached by an unknown vehicle. According to police reports, a dark blue Chevrolet sedan pulled up behind her and a white male subject asked her “if she wanted to buy some weed.” When the woman saw that the male was getting out of the car, she began walking faster away from the vehicle. The male subject came up from behind and threw her in the back of the car. Inside the car, a white female subject with blonde hair and a white female with dark hair took the woman’s cell phone and began battering her. The vehicle made its way to US 164 towards Monmouth. The female victim was eventually released west of Westport where another female motorist stopped, picked her up, and lent her a cell phone so she could call for help. Paramedics were called, and the victim was evaluated and released. The three subjects are facing battery, theft, and possible additional charges. The investigation is ongoing.
