Chicago opens 4 COVID-19 vaccine sites for school employees

CHICAGO (AP) – Chicago Public Schools officials say four COVID-19 vaccination sites dedicated to teachers and staff will be fully operational this coming week. Starting Monday, Chicago will set aside 1,500 shots for educators and staff in the nation’s third-largest school district. That’s on top of about 2,000 doses offered to teachers who are at higher risk of illness or starting back in the classroom as part of the district’s gradual reopening plan that emerged after a tough fight with the Chicago Teachers Union. Overall, district officials say more than 7,500 employees have been offered vaccinations, but they can’t say how many have been accepted because of medical privacy laws.
