Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin announced late last week that he is forming a Citizens Advisory Form to allow a way for constituents to voice concerns and potential solutions to various issues in the county.
Karlin says the board will be comprised of a diverse and vital group of community members from across the county, tasked with providing a point of engagement for the community. The group is intended to be a dynamic and evolving group of people that gives diverse opinions, ideologies, and perspectives, according to a release from Karlin’s office.
One of the first issues that the Citizens Advisory Board will have input on, Karlin says, is giving input on the types of offenses included in a future diversion program to hold first offending adults accountable while allowing them to avoid a criminal conviction.
The board will also assist the State’s Attorney’s office in setting priorities for the office and help create new initiatives. Karlin says this will allow the State’s Attorney’s Office to be responsive to the needs of our ever-changing community.
The board will assist in setting the priorities for the office and creating new initiatives. The selection period is running through Friday, March 5, and the first meeting will be two weeks later.
