Galesburg City Council can tonight approve the purchase of a video and audio interview system for use by the special operations unit and patrol unit of the Galesburg Police Department. The total cost is about $12,500. The GPD audio and video interview system are several years old according to council documents.‘The Department recently purchased the car and body-worn cameras from GETAC, the same company where the recommended interview system is manufactured. They say purchasing the GETAC interview system would allow the department to run all videos off the same system and incorporate data into one file. It would generally streamline data retrieval, storage, and sharing of data. Most of the infrastructure is already in place which the city believes is a cost-saving. The city would be making the purchase from Supreme Radio Communications based in Galesburg.
