Saturday, February 27th Galesburg Police were alerted to a white sedan that had been reported stolen. Police eventually caught up with the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Henderson Street. Police made contact with the driver: 31-year old Lydia Leggett of Galesburg. According to police reports, she told police she was leasing the vehicle from Hertz and using the car for Door Dash. Police confirmed the validity of the stolen car and spoke with dispatchers in Chicago Ridge, Illinois who said Hertz requested that Leggett bring the vehicle back due to non-payment. The vehicle was not returned, so it was reported stolen. Leggett was arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $500 less than $10,000.
