Just before noon on Tuesday, a pair of Knox College Students noticed an art project that they had been working on for weeks inside the Whitcomb Art Center had sustained damage, and half of it was missing. A faculty member had also mentioned art fabric missing as well from an adjacent room. Galesburg Police met with Knox College Security and observed a security video of an unknown white male wearing ski goggles enter the art center, go into a classroom, then leave with the art fabric. The next day, Galesburg Police received a phone call from a Martin Bayer who had confessed to campus security to taking the items. Bayer told police he knew what he did was wrong, but wanted to “punk them a little.” He returned all the items to campus security. Bayer was charged with Theft under $300.
