Cratty Insurance Agency is calling it a day, even though Mark Cratty is taking his clients with him and joining Porter-Hay Insurance.
Mark says ultimately the decision is about being able to better serve his clients. Joining Porter-Hay he says will allow him to better shop around to get better prices.
Mark says in a post announcing the change, that it’s bittersweet. His parents, Mike and Karen started Cratty Insurance Agency in 1985 and both were an active part of the business until they passed away; Mike in 2012 and Karen just in October.
Mike and Karen were also Century 21 real estate agents, another business Mark has carried on in, although that’s unrelated to the insurance business.
Porter-Hay Insurance is a subsidiary of Midwest Bank, with their Galesburg office located in the back of Midwest Bank’s location on North Seminary St.
Porter-Hay has been absorbing a lot of agencies in the past few years like the Carl Swanson Agency in Galesburg. They have also bought Ron James Agency in Oquawka in 2018, Kiddoo Agency from Doug and Barb Kiddoo in Joy in 2018, and Orville Minteer Agency in Andalusia.
