Saturday, March 6th Galesburg Police were dispatched to the 900 block of North Henderson Street for a burglary in progress. According to police reports, the victim of the burglary was hiding on the roof of the building. The victim told police that 39-year old Raymond Barber of Galesburg continuously called her wanting her car keys. He eventually showed up at the apartment, kicked open her door, found her hiding in the bathroom; then threw her to the ground and began rummaging through her apartment. After she ran to the roof, she heard a second male enter her apartment asking where she was. A neighbor confirmed Barber’s presence at the apartment – who took off with the victim’s purse but left his own cell phone behind. On Monday, GPD was dispatched to Barber’s home on Home Boulevard for a separate incident. Barber had locked himself inside the apartment and was eventually talked out and taken into custody. He’s being charged with Home Invasion, Robbery, Criminal Damage to Property, and Battery.
