Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball @ Rock Island Rocks

In a game that featured 13 lead changes and nine ties, the Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team saw the Rock Island Rocks make winning plays down the stretch, in a 72-65 Streaks loss to the Rocks.

It was oddly reminiscent of the game the Rocks won back at the GHS Fieldhouse three weeks ago.  Rock Island — the Western Big 6 Conference champions — finished the season at 14-2, and were led once again by Amarion Nimmers with 29 points.  He had 31 in the Rocks victory three weeks ago.  But, maybe the biggest player of the night — literally, physically, and in terms of the impact on the game — was Baker Beal.  He had 12 points, and 13 rebounds.  For the first time all season, the Streaks were out-rebounded, largely because of Beal.

Eric Price was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game.  He led the Streaks all night long, scoring 15 in the first quarter and 28 for the game.  Price moved up five spots on the Streaks All-Time Scoring list to a tie for 14th.

Demarco Harden also finished in double figures with 18 points.  Koen Derry had his varsity career high with 11 points, and led the Streaks with six rebounds.

The GHS sophomores fell 73-39.  The freshmen did not play.

The final game of the season for the Streaks will be Saturday night at Rock Island Alleman.  You can hear the game starting at approx. 7:06pm on WGIL.
