Abingdon man arrested for DUI after Losey Street accident

Just before 8:00 pm on Monday, March 15th Galesburg Police responded to the 1000 block of East Losey for a vehicle accident that had occurred. Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle on the front lawn of a residence. The SUV suffered severe front-end damage and a front passenger wheel had completely broken off. Police made contact with the driver: 38-year-old James Stevens Jr. of Abingdon who spoke in a thick tongue smelled of alcohol, and had bloodshot eyes. When officers asked how much he had to drink that night, Stevens said he had more than one beer but “less than a pack of beer.” After a failed field sobriety test, Stevens provided a preliminary breath sample with a BAC which read .260. Stevens was arrested for DUI A2, having a Driver’s License Expired more than 6 months, and cited for improper lane usage.
