Galesburg man arrested for DUI after sitting stationary on railroad tracks

Around 3:45 am on Sunday, March 14th, while on patrol near West Main and North Academy Streets, Galesburg Police observed a sedan with a Colorado registration sitting stationary on the railroad tracks. Police made contact with the driver: 27-year old Nicholas Collins of Galesburg who was extremely difficult to understand and was wearing only one shoe. Police observed several rounds of loose ammunition on the front passenger seat and an open bottle of alcohol. When asked about the ammunition, police could not understand his responses. Police patted Collins down finding no contraband. A properly-sealed container of cannabis and a cannabis pipe were found in the car. After a failed field sobriety test, Collins provided a preliminary breath sample with a BAC that read .155. He was placed under arrest and charged with DUI A1, DUI A2, Driving Under the Influence with no insurance, and cited for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by the Driver.
