On Tuesday, March 16th, an employee at Scott’s Power Equipment on Linwood Road contacted police after he confronted a woman for trying to steal his vehicle. He stopped 40-year old Chrystal Hernandez of Galesburg just as she was reaching for the ignition of his truck in the business’s parking lot. Hernandez took off on foot eastbound on West Main Street after the incident. GPD caught up with Hernandez where she admitted to trying to take the truck – she thought a friend left it for her to take. Officers also located a baggy containing – what Hernandez later confirmed to be – methamphetamine. She was transported to the Knox County Jail and charged with Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle, Possession of Meth less than 5 grams, and a Warrant for Resisting Arrest.
