Single-vehicle crash April 8th leads to DUI charges for Galesburg woman

Just before 7:00pm on Thursday, April 8th, Galesburg Police responded to a single-vehicle crash near Lincoln and East North Streets. Witnesses told dispatch the female driver seen exiting the front driver-side of the sedan appeared intoxicated and fell over backward when exiting the vehicle. She even asked another motorist at one point if she hit them with her car. The female, identified as 25-year old Randa Schoenbein of Galesburg did not smell alcohol, but was uneasy on her feet and swayed from side to side. After a failed field sobriety test, GPD had Schoenbein provide a breath sample which came back with a BAC of 0.00. Officers placed her under arrest due to the failed sobriety test. 25-year old Tyler Longo of Galesburg was adamant with police that HE was the one driving, so officers placed him under arrest for Driving on a Suspended License and Failing to Reduce Speed, and was free to go. Back at the Public Safety Building, Schoenbein provided blood and urine samples for testing. Schoenbein was charged with DUI Drugs, Aggravated DUI – No License, and No Valid Driver’s License then transported to the Knox County Jail.
