Inspired by the Galesburg On Track initiative, a new community group is looking to address challenges and promote vibrancy on Galesburg’s South Side.
The Southside Task Force plans on tackling several initiatives in the hope to enhance the neighborhoods on the southern side of Galesburg.
Currently the group consists of neighborhood leaders and includes representatives from Knox College, G&M Distributors, United Way of Knox County, the Galesburg Community Foundation, Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development, VNA Community Services and several other entities.
The group is looking for more to get involved and will hold their next meeting on Zoom on Thursday, April 15, at 5:00 pm. Participation is open to anyone and to get involved, email galesburgsouthside@gmail.com.
“We’re looking for positive, hands-on individuals to get involved,” says Southside Task Force volunteer Adam Vitale. “This is truly an action-oriented group dedicated to enhancing South Galesburg.”
The group’s projects are still in development and will be formally announced at a later date.
