With the vaccine for the Coronavirus becoming more widespread, OSF Healthcare is doing what it can to make scheduling an appointment as easy as possible. The healthcare provider announced yesterday that anyone age 16 and older can now self-schedule a COVID-19 vaccination on their website. Minors, those 16 and 17 years of age, can only schedule for the Pfizer vaccine because it is the only vaccine approved by the Food and Drug Administration for this age group. Minors will also need to be accompanied by an adult. If a parent or guardian isn’t available to accompany the minor the vaccine visit, written or verbal consent from them will be necessary. Both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines require two doses. The second will need to be scheduled 21 days after the first for the Pfizer and 28 days after the first for the Moderna.
