The Knox County Unified Command is making progress on their vaccine center, at what is the former Bergner’s store at Carl Sandburg Mall.

Erin Olson, the Director of Wellness and Public Information Officer with the Knox County Health Department, went to Facebook Thursday to show off the new site.

Additionally, she talked about some of the details of the upcoming first dose vaccine clinic for the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow from 8-11 am.

“If you are a minor, you do need to have a parent or legal guardian who will be with you the entire time, to sign the legal consent. Also, to be here during your vaccine. So, that is again open to anyone 16 and up. Anyone in the State of Illinois is available to register for this vaccine.”

Patients will need a second dose between 21 and 42 days after the first dose.

The health department adds that people in search of a first dose need to visit the health department’s Facebook page or website, knoxcountyhealth.org, at 2 p.m. each Friday for a link to the first-dose clinics.

Additionally, there will be a first dose vaccine clinic set up for the first four days in May for the Moderna vaccine.
