On Sunday, April 18th around midnight, Galesburg Police responded to the 3000 block of West Main Street for reports of a drunken driver who had driven through a field and the backyard of a home behind Cactus Country then crashed in a ditch. GPD received numerous calls about the driver whose Chevrolet Camaro was sticking nose-down in the ditch with the back wheels up off the ground, according to police reports. Police made contact with the driver: a very incoherent and intoxicated 24-year old Heath Williams of Peoria who was banging on the window of a fellow motorist’s SUV. The female motorist initially stopped to help Williams, but was frightened due to his hysteria and returned to her vehicle before calling the police. Officers observed numerous clumps of cannabis throughout Williams’ car in plain sight along with several baggies of cannabis all totaling around 14.1 grams. A stun gun was also found inside the car. Williams was placed under arrest and became increasingly uncooperative. He was eventually transported to the Knox County Jail. Charges include DUI, Diving on a Suspended License, Aggravated DUI, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, a Peoria County Warrant, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis among others.
