London Mills woman injured in two-vehicle crash

A 55-year-old woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi that took place Tuesday morning in London Mills.

According to the Illinois State Police, Ann L. Brooks was transported to an area hospital with what is being described as “serious injuries” following the crash that occurred at around 11:40.

A preliminary investigation by the State Police indicates that Brooks was traveling east on Illinois Route 116 in a 1997 Mercury Cougar as she completed a left turn onto 2nd Street heading north, to the south side of the town.

60-year-old Brett Z. Mason of Lewistown was eastbound, driving an International Truck Tractor-Trailer combination, behind Brooks at the time and attempted to pass her, striking the vehicle.

Mason was uninjured in the crash and was cited for improper passing and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
