Man with rifle arrested after Chicago Loop attack on 2 women

CHICAGO (AP) – A man brandishing a rifle was taken into custody by Chicago police in the city’s Loop business district after attacking two women. Police spokesman Officer Anthony Spicuzza says no shots were fired when the man, who hasn’t been identified, was arrested Thursday morning. Authorities say the man, described as a 29-year-old, confronted a woman as she walked along a street, punching her and striking her in the head with the rifle. She was hospitalized, but police did not release her condition. The suspect later approached a car and ordered out the 30-year-old female driver. She complied, but the man walked away. He tried to flee as police responded, but was taken into custody.
