Margaret Lithander, 94 of Boise, Idaho, and formerly of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away at 3:39 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the Spring Creek Assisted Living Center in Meridian, Idaho.
She was born December 11, 1926, in Frankenmarkt, Austria, the daughter of Franz Schweighofer and Walburgi Schweighofer. She married Dale L. Lithander on August 2, 1948, in Vienna, Austria. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kerry Witherell in 2007, daughter-in-law, Paula Lithander in 2009, brother, Franz Schweighofer of Salzburg, Austria; and sister, Maria Martell of Camarillo, California.
Margaret is survived by three sons, Kim Lithander of Boise, Idaho, Kirk Lithander of Dayton, Ohio, and Keith (Julie) Lithander of Boise, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She had lived in Galesburg, Illinois since 1948 and in the Boise, Idaho area since 2009. Margaret devoted her life to her family and was a wonderful loving, caring and nurturing mother. She was an excellent cook and made delicious German food. She also enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. While in Galesburg, she worked at the King Middle School cafeteria for 20 years for Galesburg School District #205, retiring in 1988. Margaret was a follower of Jesus and was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 am Friday at the chapel, followed by a private burial of her ashes at East Linwood Cemetery.
