Russ Idle
Galesburg Police Chief Russ Idle this week launched a new initiative designed to engage and learn from the public.
Idle is calling it “The Chief’s Corner,” and says he will periodically post topics or thoughts for discussion on the Galesburg Police Department Facebook page.
The Chief will respond as the discussion goes forward. Idle acknowledges that some conversations will be less constructive than others, with the nature of social media. But he says they’ll work through that and expect the first post soon.
Another part of “The Chief’s Corner” will be in-person meetings.
Idle’s planning on meeting and sharing a beverage with people at various locations around town. The first event like this will be Friday, June 11, from 10-11 a.m. at the East Main Hyvee in their Market Grill Dining Room.
Idle says he looks forward to answering questions, having conversations, and building relationships.
He says he wants this to be a “conversation between the citizens of our community and me as the Chief of Police. “
