Carl Sandburg College will now be allowing telecommuting as a temporary or permanent work arrangement for their employees.

The College’s Board of Trustees approved the policy at their monthly meeting Thursday.

Under the policy, telecommuting will be a voluntary, cooperative arrangement based on the needs of the College, the employee’s department, and their role.

It could also allow employees to work at an alternate location for all or part of their workweek.

The policy came to be after many Sandburg employees did much of their work via telecommuting in the past year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even as COVID eases, the College says they’ve found that telecommuting offered benefits in terms of increased productivity and employee morale.
