
Roger E. Nuckles, 83, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 10:20 pm, Monday, June 7, 2021, at his home.
Roger was born November 29, 1937, in Abingdon, IL the son of Frank E. and Dorothy (Lowrey) Nuckles. He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1955.
Roger served as a Staff Sergeant with the Illinois Army National Guard From 1955 to 1965.
Roger married Norma C. Bickell in Monmouth, IL on June 9, 1972, and she survives.
He was a Service Manager for Gambles Skogmo in Monmouth, IL for 28 years before becoming a Supervisor at Achievement Industries, Monmouth, IL for 15 years before retiring in 1999.
Roger was of Protestant Faith. He was a member of the Monmouth American Legion, serving as Commander twice. He was also a 40/8 member. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards, mushrooming, and being on the river. He was devoted to his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Nuckles of Monmouth, IL; his daughters, Diana (Curtis) Campagna of Monmouth, IL, Chris (Todd) Sprout of Monmouth, Il and Angie (Pete) Widolff of Galesburg, IL; 11 grandchildren, Amy (Jerry) Pulse, Jessica (Tony) Bundy, Jamie (George) Umphryes, Robert (Leticia) Allen, Megan (Richard) Burton, Danielle (Zac) Carter, Macy (Brandon) Helmeid, Luke Widolff, Alyssa (Andrew Avalos) Widolff, Ryan (Mandy) Campagna and Corey (Crystal) Campagna; 15 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronnie (Anita) Nuckles of South Carolina, Lloyd (Judy) Wakeland of Keithsburg, IL, and Brian (Denise) Wakeland of North Carolina; his sister, Francine (Brian) Greenstreet of Monmouth, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, and son-in-law, Stacey & Andrew Davidson; his father and mother-in-law, Charles and Lula Bickell and his stepmother, Ruth Nuckles.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, June 11, 2021, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sent to the funeral home.
