The Orpheum Theater in Galesburg is announcing a major musical act coming to their stage this fall.

Tickets go on sale this Friday for Pokey LaFarge who will be at the historic theater on Sun. Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.

The singer-songwriter and his band have a musical style that is a unique cross between old-fashioned blues, vintage country, and retro rock ‘n roll, and even ragtime.

LaFarge was born in Bloomington, Illinois but found himself in East Austin, Texas during the pandemic.

He spent the time writing what would become “In the Blossom of Their Shade”, his forthcoming album.

LaFarge found peace in being forced to remain still and the songs showcase the positivity of coming out of the darkness.

The album drops in September about a month before The Orpheum Performance.

The work is inspired by the deep soul not just from these shores, but from distant geographical places like Africa or South America.

LaFarge set out to create a body of work that paired emotional lyrics with a killer groove and grabby melodies

You can find out more about LaFarge at www.pokeylafarge.net.

G&M Distributors is sponsoring LaFarge’s performance on the historic stage.

Tickets are $25 and go on sale this Friday, June 18th, and will be available by calling the Orpheum Theatre Box Office at 309.342.2299 during office hours (10am-2pm, Tuesday thru Friday) or online at www.galesburgorpheum.org/tickets.
