After a year of canceled entertainment events because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Orpheum Theatre is bringing back movies.
A popular summertime tradition is returning to the historic downtown staple, Throwback Thursdays Movie Series returns showcasing movies at least 20 years old during the summer months with free admission.
The 2021 Throwback Thursdays Series theme this year is “Cult Comedies” and will kick off with a classic: Monty Python and the Holy Grail, playing on Thursday, June 24, with two screenings — one at 2:00 pm and the other at 7:00.
Revered as one of the greatest comedic films of all time, Monty Python and the Holy Grail parodies the legend of King Arthur and the Knight of the Round Table’s quest for the famous religious relic.
Monty Python was a British surreal comedy troupe who created the sketch comedy television show Monty Python’s Flying Circus in 1969. Their popularity exploded and have been an icon of 1970’s pop culture.
The rest of the movie series has yet to be announced but a release from the Orpheum says they will be doing so later this month and to follow them on social media to stay updated.
