Galesburg woman seen attempting to break into house arrested for drugs.

On Thursday, June 17th, Galesburg police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Grand Avenue for reports of a suspicious female attempting to break into an abandoned house. Officers arrived and made contact with 40-year old Chrystal Hernandez who matched the caller’s description. Hernandez gave officers a confusing reason for being at the property. At one point she told officers her family used to live there and she also said her boyfriend lived there in the 1930s. Police then discovered that Hernandez had a valid Knox County warrant for possession of methamphetamine and she was placed under arrest. Inside her purse, officers located a white-crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for meth. Officer also found eight 2mg Lorazepam pills which are a schedule 4 controlled substance. Hernandez was further charged with Possession of Methamphetamine less than 5 grams, and Possession of a Controlled Substance under 15 grams and transported to the Knox County Jail.
