Galesburg City Council is now on the hunt for a new 3rd Ward Council member after Lindsay Hillery’s resignation Tuesday.
Nominations can be emailed to Mayor Peter Schwartzman at pschwart@ci.galesburg.il.us or phoned into the City Clerk at 309-345-3610.
As was the case for the recent appointment of Ward 5 council member Jaclyn Smith-Esters, the appointment will be up to Schwartzman but the other council members must consent.
Kyle Rowedeher, a Galesburg barber and Knox County Board member, has publicly stated that he’s interested in the council seat.
Mayor Schwartzman says he would like to get the new member seated by the Aug. 16 meeting.
That means a deadline for submitting applications closes on Wed. July 28 at 4 p.m.
