Cases of COVID increasing in Knox County

Knox County is seeing signs that cases of COVID-19 are increasing.

According to data released by the Knox County Unified Command yesterday, 25 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus Disease were reported in the last week, between Tuesday, July 20, and Monday, July 26.

That brings the total number of total positive cases in Knox county since the pandemic began in March of 2020 to 5,791.

Few details can be released due to federal privacy laws but of those individuals but:

  • 2 female 20s
  • 1 female 30s
  • 6 female 40s
  • 2 female 50s
  • 2 female 80s
  • 2 males 10s
  • 3 males 20s
  • 3 males 30s
  • 2 males 40s
  • 1 male 60s

To date, 22,720 residents have been fully vaccinated, making up 45.34 percent of the Knox County population.

The Unified Command holds weekly clinics at the Unified Command Vaccine Center at the former Bergner’s Building on Carl Sandburg Drive.

A Moderna and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be held on Thursday, July 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Health Department will be administering the two-dose Moderna vaccine to those 18 years of age and up and the one-dose Janssen vaccine to those 18 years of age and up at the clinic.

A Pfizer and Janssen COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be held on Tuesday, August 3, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Health Department offers the two-dose Pfizer vaccine to those 12 years of age and up and the one dose Janssen vaccine to those 18 years of age and up at the clinic. Individuals under the age of 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parental consent must be signed before the vaccine can be administered.
