Illinois DMVs and Capitol Building to require face masks on Monday

Illinois will return to requiring masks to be worn inside all Driver Service facilities in the state starting Monday.

Secretary of State Jesse White announced Thursday that the mandate will also apply to Secretary of State offices and the Illinois State Capitol building.

The requirements apply to both employees and guests.

White stressed that it’s “imperative” for his facilities to remain open to serve the public to reduce the heavy customer volume caused by the COVID-19 pandemic over the last year.

Remember that White’s office extended expiration dates for driver’s licenses and ID cards until Jan. 1, 2022. Expired documents will remain valid until Jan. 1, 2022, so customers do not need to rush into a facility.
